Dual Anthems

This paper focuses on how the shifting roles of the Thai national and royal anthems over the past 90 years mirror the shifting prominence of the institutions they represent.  While one would expect the national anthem to play a more important role in evoking the feeling of nationalism, this paper argues that the royal anthem has superseded the national anthem in fulfilling that role.
